Josh Jacobs Has Taken A Massive Leap As A Receiver

The Green Bay Packers‘ decision to move on from Aaron Jones wasn’t easy.

When healthy, the all-purpose running back was a very productive player.

However, that’s the type of move a good team will make when a player of Josh Jacobs‘ caliber becomes available.

So far, the former Las Vegas Raiders star has been better than advertised in two seasons with Green Bay, and he has improved significantly in one notable area.

“The strides Josh Jacobs has taken as a receiver since joining the Packers deserve so much more recognition,” Daire Carragher wrote on X.

He’s increased his output in yards per route run, yards after the catch per reception, passer rating when targeted, and limited his drops.

Jacobs was a bell cow back with the Raiders.

He proved he could handle that type of workload, and he’s able to dominate between the tackles and break runs downfield.

His pass-catching skills, however, were never a big part of his game.

That’s why it’s positive to see that he’s put in the work to get better in that regard, and it’s also a testament to the coaching staff’s work with him.

This should serve as an example to other players, showing you’re never too old to add layers to your game.

While he may not be Bijan Robinson or Christian McCaffrey and line up outside, there’s no reason to get Jacobs off the field other than to give him a breather now and then.
