Ryan Yates has insisted that the Nottingham Forest players owe it to supporters to turn their season around following the appointment of Sean Dyche.
Simply put, results in the last several weeks have been bleak, and that has been reflected in the mood around the club.
But, under Dyche, Forest have an opportunity to put things right and get back on the high road that they had advanced so far along last season.
Against unbeaten FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, things will not come easy for Dyche and his side, but Yates has insisted that, even before the ex-Everton boss' arrival, the players knew enough was enough.
"Absolutely [it is a fresh start]," Yates said. "I said after the game the other day, we were getting clapped off after a 3-0 home defeat [against Chelsea].
“A few of the lads said ‘we owe it to the fans, whatever decision the club makes, we owe it to the fans because they deserve more'.
"We have to see this as an opportunity to go and grab it. Porto are on a great run and it’s going to be a difficult game, but we want them to think ‘they’re up for this’. We can’t let games slip us by.”
