Exclusive: Everton and West Ham quoted £40m for Europa League forward

Everton’s priorities for January are already heading towards adding more goals, but there is one striker who will be incredibly difficult to land.

David Moyes was delighted with Everton’s summer transfer business in what was the first summer window for the Friedkins on Merseyside.

A lot of changes were made to the squad, with significant player turnover seen at Everton.

Angus Kinnear and his recruitment team placed a big emphasis on improving Everton’s attacking options.

Signing players like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish has provided much greater creativity behind the striker.

Everton News understands that Moyes was open to signing two strikers over the summer after landing Thierno Barry.

With more quality needed up top, Everton News’ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared his understanding of ongoing interest in Franculino Dju.

Everton target Franculino Dju slapped with £40m price tag

Everton have shown an interest in Franculino Dju over recent months following his impressive form at Midtjylland.

However, that form is now commanding a whopping asking price, which would likely fend off any interest from possible Premier League suitors.

“As it stands it is far from certain that he leaves Midtjylland, from what I am told the asking price is close to £40million and that is really just Midtjylland saying not for sale,” Bailey told Everton News.

“He is on the list of a number of clubs and Everton have looked, West Ham did in the summer and there are more.

“The belief is that things can change by January, but as it stands a move is not looking likely.”

Everton do believe in Barry’s potential but it is becoming more apparent that it is going to take time for the Frenchman to hit his best form on Merseyside.

In the meantime, Everton find themselves with just one Premier League goal from their two strikers this season.

The Toffees may face competition from the likes of West Ham for Dju, but it is apparent that Midtjylland will do all they can to keep him in Denmark.

Franculino Dju could pose another gamble for Everton

Having already spent in the region of £27m on Barry over the summer, spending even more on Dju would pose a huge risk for the Friedkins.

Clearly, this is a player who has an awful lot of potential to establish himself as a top goalscorer in Europe.

Looking at his numbers from the early stages of this season, it would be easy for fans to get excited about the prospect of him landing on Merseyside.

However, it has to be remembered that the transition to the English game must be considered, with Barry clearly struggling with just that.

Dju has been hailed as a ‘sensational’ talent by Jacek Kulig, but whether he could hit the ground running in the Premier League is a totally different question.
