Bill Simmons is defending Michael Jordan and NBC after Jordan’s TV debut.
Before the start of the season, Jordan announced that he would be working with NBC on a new segment for their nationally televised game.
“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC. The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October,” Jordan said in a statement.
On Tuesday, NBC debuted MJ “Insights to Excellence’ which featured Jordan talking about his current relationship with basketball.
“Love it like you wouldn’t believe. I wish I could take a magic pill, put on shorts and go out and play the game of basketball, today…it’s what I live for, I miss it.”
Michael Jordan when asked if he still loves the game:
“Love it like you wouldn’t believe. I wish I could take a magic pill, put on shorts and go out and play the game of basketball, today…it’s what I live for, I miss it.”

Some fans were disappointed that Jordan was not commenting on the current game and its players.
So basically NBC shot one long interview with Michael Jordan & they’re gonna slowly show it to us 2 mins at a time over the season? pic.twitter.com/BmgCfphSkf

On his podcast, Simmons defended Jordan’s segment.
“His insights, his observations, his thoughts about the league — it just doesn’t matter because anything he says, I’m captivated,”
“He told some story about renting a house that had a basketball court. I don’t even know what happened and I was just nodding like, “Yeah, this is great,”
“I could watch him talk about anything,” Simmons concluded.
“It doesn’t really matter what he says.”

It’s currently unclear what Jordan will talk about every week. We’ll have to wait and see if the NBA legend will eventually comment on the current game.
