2 goals, Motm: £65m star exposes Man Utd incompetence with Champions League 'masterclass'

Victor Osimhen has once again proven he’s one of the best strikers in the world following a Champions League masterclass for Galatasaray on Wednesday evening – but imagine if he had been playing for Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

Victor Osimhen scored twice in European football’s biggest competition, with two first-half goals contributing to a 3-1 victory against Bodo/Glimt and gifting the Turkish side their second win of their European campaign.

The Nigerian could have easily had a hat-trick, remaining a constant threat throughout. If it weren’t for Nikita Haikin in the opposition goal, he could have had four or five.

He was substituted for Mauro Icardi in the 73rd minute, but the 26-year-old’s fine display will leave United fans regretting not pursuing a transfer for the forward.

Manchester United should have signed Victor Osimhen

Manchester United were linked to Osimhen in the summer as they searched for a striker to lead the line at Old Trafford.

TBR Football revealed Osimhen spoke to Manchester United through representatives, but the Nigerian decided against waiting for the Red Devils and signed for Galatasaray permanently for around £65m.

The Turkish side were more insistent, while United bided their time and weighed up options – a decision that now looks questionable.

Despite facing injuries for the majority of the season, when he has played, Osimhen has proven himself one of the most clinical finishers on the planet, as shown in Wednesday’s clash.

Paul Scholes even urged United to sign Osimhen alongside another striker, which as we now know is Benjamin Sesko.

The void for a competent backup forward remains following Rasmus Hojlund’s departure, and Osimhen wouldn’t have just been backup – he would have pushed Sesko to the next level.

A mistake, no doubt.
