Manchester City’s interest in Andrea Cambiaso turned the player’s head, and he hasn’t recovered since.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who report that the player has undergone a complete regression since Manchester City tried to sign him a year ago.
They explain that Cambiaso is ‘far from the same player’ he was a year ago. Unlike then, when they resisted Manchester City’s offers strongly, the situation would now be very differently.
Cambiaso has become a concern for the Italian giants. He’s gone from being considered one of the best in Serie A and beyond to far from that.
Manchester City were keen to sign him and make a major investment in him. His decline has left Juventus concerned that it might have affected the player mentally.
City had made an offer and initiated contact with his agent. But it was firmly their idea, rejected outright by Juventus. Cambiaso has never been the same since, with injuries also an issue.
Now, if a bid were to arrive in January their stance would be very different. They know that it is unthinkable that a similar offer of €60m will arrive again. They’d be happy to sell for much less than that.
It’s a drastic turnaround, to say the least, and the feeling is that it all started with that Manchester City bid.
