Unai Emery will look to continue his five-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League against Manchester City.

Aston Villa dominated Tottenham at home to secure all three points in their most recent league game.

However, the Villans’ game against Spurs could end up looking like child’s play when they welcome City to Villa Park on 26 October.

Indeed, the 10-time league winners will arguably be Emery’s biggest test of the season thus far. As a result, the Villa coach will need to have his wits about him heading into the clash.

Aston Villa second favourites vs Manchester City

The task ahead for Emery may not be as easy as Villa’s win over Spurs. Indeed, according to Opta’s supercomputer, Villa are not the favourites to win the game.

The home side have a 34.3 per cent chance of maintaining their unbeaten streak in the league, while City have a 39.9 per cent chance of claiming all three points.

There is a 25.8 per cent chance that the game ends level in what could be the game to disrupt the Villans’ fine Premier League form.

What is Unai Emery’s record against Pep Guardiola?

While Emery continues to break records at Villa this season, his record against Pep Guardiola is an unfavourable one.

He has won two out of 17 games played

Guardiola has an 11 game win record against Emery

Emery’s first win came on 6 December 2023 in Villa’s 1-0 victory over City

This will likely not the the statistics that Villa fans want to read heading into the match.

Even worse is that while both teams are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games, Man City have won four to Villa’s three.

In fact, Erling Haaland has netted eight goals in his last five matches for City, which will come at a bigger blow.

At the moment, it seems not even another exceptional performance from Morgan Rogers will help Villa on Sunday.

The only redeeming factor is that football is played on the day, meaning that once the initial whistle blows, anything can happen.

As a result, it will no doubt be a difficult test for the Villans, but one that the club may be able to overcome.
