Amid Maga outcry over Bad Bunny, NFL Commissioner breaks silence on Super Bowl halftime show

The NFL naming Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer has sparked disapproval from the MAGA base, who are largely unhappy with the pick.

Speaking to reporters at the league’s annual fall owners meeting, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that they might add performers to the show, but there will be no change with Bad Bunny’s involvement.

Goodell said the decision was “carefully thought through.”

“He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world,” Goodell said, via Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. That’s what we try to achieve.

“We’re confident it’s going to be a great show and that he understands the platform that he’s on. I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”

Many MAGA loyalists are outraged at the NFL for the pick because of Bad Bunny’s outspoken criticism of President Donald Trump.

The 31-year-old artist born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has won three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. He has become a global ambassador for Latin music, starred in films such as “Bullet Train,” “Caught Stealing” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” and collaborated with top fashion houses. He’ll enter the Latin Grammys as the leading nominee with 12, dethroning producer and songwriter Édgar Barrera.
