Timeout With Cornerback Devon Witherspoon

5. If you weren't a football player, what would you be?

"A gamer. I'd be on that game for sure. I want to get into streaming but I'm not into the camera being on me, I'm not really an on-camera type of guy. I live in the moment. I play Call of Duty, 2K, and Mortal Kombat. Whoever plays Mortal Kombat needs to get off the game, y'all play that game too much."

6. What made you pivot from the NBA?

"My mom wanted me to go out and play football again junior year of high school, she's a football woman. I played football before, and she wanted me to go out and play again because I was always good at it. When I went back out my junior year, I earned my first offer after the season from Troy University, and I decided to roll with football."

7. Who inspires your game the most – whether that's a past coach, family member, or player?

"Darrelle Revis, the way he approaches the position, he gave me the confidence, like, I can't be beat out here. Even if you have a great receiver on the other side, just taking on that challenge, you have to be able to beat me."

8. Do you have a pregame ritual or superstition, and if so, what is it?

"Nah, I don't really do all that. I just play my music, watch my film, remember what I saw on film and paper, and then I go out there and play. You have your nervousness, but, Year 3 in, I've seen a lot of the best receivers out there so there's no reason to be nervous anymore, especially when you've got Coach Mike (Macdonald) out there you're like 'I'm good.'"
