Bills could trade for All-Pro division rival to aid defense ahead of trade deadline

The Buffalo Bills have issues on defense. Over their last two games, Buffalo has allowed huge games from big-time receivers. Stefon Diggs caught 10 passes for 146 yards in his return to Buffalo, and Drake London put up 10 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown.

The Bills surely need to find a piece to bring in that can be an instant difference-maker, and they could trade for one from a division-rival. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is a name to watch.

"Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is also on my radar," Fowler writes. "So, while I'm not so sure a complete house-cleaning is in order, it would surprise me if the Dolphins stood pat. This is a team with roster concerns, and those eight 2026 draft picks won't address them all."

Fitzpatrick was traded back to the Dolphins by the Steelers at the end of June in a trade that sent Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh. The Dolphins traded Fitzpatrick to the Steelers in 2019. With Miami at 1-6, trading the All-Pro within the division wouldn't mean nearly as much compared to if they were still winning games. Fitzpatrick still has the ability to quarterback a defense on the back end, and he would slot in immediately as a starter.
