Isak had started for the Reds as they ended their losing run with a 5-1 thrashing of the Bundesliga outfit.

It followed four consecutive losses in all competitions for Slot's side, dating back to before the international break.

However, there were still negatives from their trip to Germany with a pair of injury concerns for the Premier League champions.

Jeremie Frimpong was forced off after just 19 minutes with what appears to be a hamstring injury.

The Dutch full-back, who sustained a similar issue earlier in the season, was replaced by Conor Bradley.

Meanwhile, Isak did not re-emerge for the second half alongside the rest of his teammates.

Instead, Federico Chiesa took his place in the Reds' front line, with the visitors leading 3-1 after the opening 45 minutes.

Slot has now revealed Isak was suffering from discomfort in his groin prior to being taken off.

He told TNT Sports: "He had to go off at half-time because he felt his groin a bit.

"That is a pity but it’s such a difficult balance for someone who has missed three months. Let’s hope for the best but it’s not an easy balance."

The potential injury blow comes just three days before Liverpool return to action in the Premier League.

They are scheduled to face Brentford away from home on Saturday night, with kick-off at 8pm.

Isak is still awaiting his first Champions League goal for his new side following their midweek victory.

The 26-year-old was unable to get on the scoresheet during the first half, with his goal against Southampton in the Carabao Cup remaining his only strike for the Reds so far this term.

Fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike continued his fine form in front of goal, though.

The French forward scored his sixth Liverpool goal when he equalised for the Reds after Rasmus Kristensen had opened the scoring for the home side.

Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate then completed a nine-minute turnaround to give Liverpool a two-goal cushion heading into the break.

Further goals from Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai added further gloss to the scoreline as they returned to winning ways.
