Titans to lean on experience in second meeting against Colts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans head to Indianapolis on Sunday for another shot at a divisional win. The last meeting skewed towards the Colts, who walked away with the 41-20 win.

The Titans are once again the underdog, but they do have on thing on their side which is experience.

It’s the first time the Titans will circle back on an AFC South opponent.

The Titans and Colts previously met back in late September. It was a tough outing for Cam Ward and the offense. The rookie quarterback was sacked four times, the offense managed just 86 rushing yards. To add insult to injury, Ward’s pass was picked off and returned for a 32-yard touchdown by Indianapolis’ Kenny Moore II.

Now, the second time around, there should be less uncertainty and more on what interim head coach Mike McCoy says is a critical piece of the puzzle.

“There’s nothing like experience, and it’s when you see a team for the second time, you have a better understanding for the player. They’ve had some changes on their roster, also, but it’s just you have better feel,” McCoy said.

Cam Ward was also asked about how his progress and his past experience against the Colts has aided in his preparation, he said: “Through that first time we played them, we see where we were when we were moving the ball. When guys are making plays for each other, then we’re also seeing, like, when we’re not moving the ball, how bad it can get. So we just got to move the ball.”

Fellow rookie and tight end Gunnar Helm added, “Obviously, we played this team before but we know who they are, they’re hot, they’re 6-1. It’s one heck of a football team. One heck of an environment were going into, so it’s us against everyone and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

It was Indianapolis’ Michael Pittman Jr. who said the Titans looked sluggish during pregame, even added it looked like they didn’t want to play that day. If there is any game to set the tone early for Tennessee, it’s week 8 against the Colts.
