CBS Sports reveals Rams trade targets, ranging from unrealistic to Alontae Taylor

The Rams are in a very special situation given their 5-2 record. They destroyed Jacksonville in London, had a mercy killing game versus the Ravens, where they won easily.

Now they’re going into the Bye week and are evaluating what the Rams need to fix before the season’s second half. Everyone and their uncle knows what the Rams' glaring weakness is:

Cornerback.

Not saying that Emmanuel Forbes and Darious Williams weren’t sensational in the blowout of the Jags, but I’m skeptical that this is the formula until Ahkello Witherspoon can return.

CBS Sports Cody Benjamin’s NFL trade deadline tiers revealed three targets. How realistic are they, though?

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs

This is more than likely the least of the ideas that would be in the Rams' interest. Not that he wouldn’t be wanted, but it would be the price tag of what that trade would look like.

Essentially, to trade for Diggs, you would almost have to make a deal like the Micah Parsons deal, and the NFL isn’t ready for Dallas to have so many first-round picks.

For the Rams, this would be the best of both worlds. He is extremely gifted and in arguably one of the best organizations in the league.

Although if McVay and Snead want to swing for a Super Bowl, this is who would make them the favorite.

But there is also his massive contract he signed two years ago, and if the Saints have shown us anything is that you can’t pay everyone or you will be in cap purgatory like they are.

Speaking of the Saints, that goes into who is next on the radar.

Saints CB Alontae Taylor

The Saints have to keep some people, and who the Rams really want probably won’t be available.

Cough, cough, Carl Granderson

But in an area that needs immediate fixing, like the slot, this guy helps. McVay and company know him pretty well from their offseason joint practices, which is an intriguing point that this could happen.

The Saints are bad, and with him being a definite free agent after this year, Taylor could be a very serviceable addition and be able to play off the ball, where he would be most comfortable.

He does come with some coverage problems, but that would be covered up with the best safety room in the NFL.

This is more the plan if the Rams are going to tough it out for Witherspoon’s return, with Forbes and Williams fixing a spot that Cobie Durant is struggling in.

Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen

For as epic as this trade would be for the Rams, this is a long stretch because it’s a division rival, but if the price is right, McVay and company would be crazy not to get this guy.

Although he “doesn’t fit” in Mike McDonald's system, he would immediately fit into that Witherspoon role and be a deadly addition for when Ahkello does come back.

This would be the player to get if the Rams really want to fix their secondary, besides somehow magically trading for a superstar, which the only one really seemingly available is Trevon Diggs.

This has been an Achilles heel to this Super Bowl contender, and everyone sees it, so the logical move to make is to use one of these draft picks and trade for someone of this caliber.

The Rams have to swing for the fences because this may be Matt Stafford's last ride, especially when his best friend, Clayton Kershaw, is about to go out on top with the Dodgers across town.
