How a comical accident in a press conference gave a hint for Chelsea’s team news this weekend

This week’s Chelsea confidential from Kieran Gill for the Daily Mail is out, and to be honest it’s not a classic.

There is some interesting stuff in there however, and as always it added some depth to stories we had just a glimmer of earlier in the week.

Gill predicts defender to be picked for special quality against Sunderland

Gill makes an interesting observation, not about tonight’s game against Ajax, but about this weekend’s game against Sunderland. He noes that Chelsea’s analysts are already looking ahead to that Premier League game and the unique threat posed by long throw machine Nordi Mukiele.

In the Premier League’s rapidly emerging set piece status quo, he’s proving to be one of the biggest weapons around.

“I would not be surprised if Tosin Adarabioyo starts that game,” Gill wrote.

“When Chelsea decided to bring him in on a free, his aerial ability and height was a factor.”

He also shared a funny story from this week which illustrates perfectly the extra inches that Tosin is working with which could come in useful defending a barrage of set pieces:

“Indeed, when 6ft 5in Tosin spoke at the pre-Ajax press conference, he bumped his head on the ceiling as he stood up to leave the podium!”

We think Tosin is more likely to start tonight, but perhaps Gill is right and Tosin will be used at the weekend, with Wesley Fofana and Josh Acheampong getting starts tonight. We will find out soon enough when Enzo Maresca drops his team news.

In other news…

In our predicted XI we’ve had a guess about how Maresca might set things up to try and win the game against Ajax tonight.

Meanwhile Joe Cole also spoke about another of Chelsea’s top stars right now – he thinks Moises Caicedo is the world’s best midfielder.
