In a night dominated by praise for the likes of Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens, former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin picked out a different Blue for praise.

Tyrique George was brought on as a second half sub to replaced Marc Guiu, and before long he had a goal. He smashed a ball which took a deflection and flew into the Ajax net.
“What a lovely moment for Tyrique George,” Nevin commented on BBC 5 Live.
“Last season he thought he was getting real chances at Chelsea and then they went and bought two strikers. He thinks that’s him finished, and will be sent out [on loan or sold].
“Today he comes on, scores a goal and looked really good in that position. Among the others, he looked really good and I am delighted for him.”
It’s clear that while Liam Delap is out, Marc Guiu has become his replacement up top. But George remains an option that Enzo Maresca likes, especially in his rotated teams. The converted winger has probably already had more minutes than he feared he might when his move to Fulham on deadline day collapsed.
With Guiu now in the frame and Delap apparently close to a return, the run won’t go on forever. But come January he’s done his chances of getting a good move no harm with these appearances.
In other news…
Maresca was asked about this impressive win had convinced him that Chelsea could win the Champions League this season. Predictably, he dodged the question with his response.
It’s nice to see George get some praise, because Estevao was sensational once again in his latest start and stole a lot of the headlines. Creatively he’s carrying this team with Cole Palmer out, and at full time Maresca compared their career trajectories.
