Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is one of the best wingers in the Premier League and his performances on Tyneside have laughed in the face of anyone who thinks Everton got a 'steal' when they sold him for £40million two-and-a-half years ago.
That is the view of former Magpies winger Andros Townsend, who played alongside Gordon at Everton prior to his move to Tyneside.
When Townsend made the move to Goodison Park, Gordon was a young player making his way into the first team after impressing at youth level.
Townsend was working on the radio for Newcastle's 3-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League, where Gordon scored and was named Player of the Match.

And when reflecting back on the youngster he played with, Townsend explained the huge strides the England international has made under the guidance of Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.
"When I first joined Everton he was still a young lad," Townsend told BBC Radio 5Live's Football Daily podcast.
"You could see had quality, he had immense pace, but he didn't really work hard enough. The modern day winger needs to be the first line of press and he wasn't doing that.

"Then it sort of clicked for him and he started working on it, he started getting in the team, getting joy, the fans loved him but even still, after Newcastle bought him for £40million, I think Everton fans were thinking 'we don't want him to go but I think we have got the better end of the deal here. It is a steal'.
"But since then he has put it all together, with the quality he's got, the consistency, the service and, for me, he is one of the best in the Premier League in his position.
"It has all come together for him and at the age of 24 he has absolutely everything.
"The world is his oyster now for club and for country going into this summer's World Cup."
