Chelsea’s Man of the Match from last night’s win over Ajax in the Champions League has taken an Eden Hazard record.
Hazard for me is Chelsea’s best ever attacking player, without a doubt. Gianfranco Zola comes VERY close for me, but Hazard is the one.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea are still interested in signing former Manchester City player despite his move in the summer!
So when you are a current Chelsea player taking a record off Hazard, then you know you are doing something right.
Jamie Gittens admitted this week that it’s been a challenge for him since joining Chelsea as he has struggled to find some form. But this can be natural for any new player arriving in a new league and at a new club.
Enzo Maresca was predictably being asked whether Chelsea can now win the Champions League after last night’s thrashing of Ajax.
Gittens was superb though and he got named the Man of the Match last night. He was busy, dangerous, quick, hungry, and a real constant threat in attack.
Stats and highlights
You can check out his highlights that were posted on X and have a look at some great attacking play from the youngster.
And as per Squawka, Gittens is the youngest Chelsea player on record (since 2003/04) to create 5+ chances in a UEFA Champions League match (21 years, 75 days), a record previously held by Eden Hazard.
As you can see below as well, the rest of his stats were pretty impressive!

Hopefully he can kick on now
You now want to see him use the confidence gained from this game to really kick on in a Chelsea shirt and find some consistent form. Because he has all the tools to be a top Premier League winger and he looked scary last night.
