Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon can’t stop scoring in the Champions League after another goal against Benfica.
Eddie Howe has now picked up two wins in three Champions League games this season after beating Benfica on Tuesday night.
Newcastle beat Jose Mourinho’s side 3-0 at St James’ Park, with Gordon bagging the opening goal of the game.
Substitute Harvey Barnes came on to score twice in the second half, wrapping up a comfortable home win.
Gordon has now scored four goals in just three Champions League games this season, and he really stepped up around Nick Woltemade on Tuesday night.

Anthony Gordon highlights rare Nick Woltemade quality at Newcastle United
Gordon was hailed as Newcastle’s Man of the Match by Mourinho as he posed a threat all night long.
The England winger also set up Barnes’ second goal, but only after some neat play from striker Woltemade.
Woltemade’s flick set Gordon away to then find Barnes, as the German again showed off his imaginative link-up play.

Newcastle’s defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion saw Woltemade score with a brilliant back heel, and this was another moment of real quality.
Gordon has now praised Woltemade, telling BBC Sport that he thinks Newcastle’s new striking hero is bringing a rare quality.
Gordon thinks there are few strikers who can drop in and play quick, first-time passes to play in wingers.
That suits Gordon’s style of play perfectly, leaving the Toon wide man seriously impressed.
“He suits my game so well,” Gordon said. “He sees the little passes I do round the corner – that’s my style of play as a winger.
“Not a lot of attackers can really play off that style, but some of his first touches, some of his little flicks – especially for the third goal – are top, top level,” he added.
Newcastle United wingers lay down the gauntlet to Anthony Elanga
Newcastle need more Premier League goals from wingers after a slow start to the season.
Gordon, Barnes, Jacob Murphy, and summer signing Anthony Elanga have yet to find the net in the Premier League this term.
Tuesday’s display saw Newcastle’s wingers step up, with Gordon bagging a goal and an assist.
Murphy set up Gordon’s goal before Barnes came on to score twice.
The odd man out here is Elanga, who has struggled since joining Newcastle from Nottingham Forest.
Elanga is backing himself to come good, but he may now find himself as Newcastle’s fourth-choice winger after Tuesday’s win.
