January transfer chance for Wolves and Nottingham Forest – Circumstances help both clubs

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest showed interest in Sevilla’s Juanlu Sánchez last summer.

In August, AS reported Wolves were the only club who came close to reaching the €20m price set by Sevilla. They reportedly reached an agreement with the La Liga side but not with the right-back.

As well as Wolves and Nottingham Forest, Napoli also showed interest. Last month, Juanlu said interest from England and Italy motivates him to do well at the Andalusian club.

However, things haven’t gone well for the 22-year-old so far this campaign, and Vamos Mi Sevilla FC take a look at his situation.

It’s claimed the Spaniard had opportunities to join Wolves or Nottingham Forest. The two Premier League clubs ‘tried to convince him with a significant financial offer’. However, he rejected them in favour of staying at Sevilla.

Juanlu has played 472 minutes from seven matches, which includes five starts, this season.

Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has favoured José Ángel Carmona ahead of him for the right-back position in recent weeks. The former has impressed and even contributed a goal and three assists in his last five league matches.

Almeyda wants Carmona as a starter because he’s more aggressive and competitive than his compatriot. The report also claims Juanlu isn’t as intense as his teammate. These are the factors that make it difficult for him to return to the starting lineup.

It feels like Juanlu is regretting not accepting’ offers made by Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Juanlu ‘remains in the shadow’ of Carmona. Therefore, the report states it’s ‘not out of the question’ that he could leave Sevilla in January. If that happens, the English clubs could get a second chance to sign Juanlu.
