Mateo Joseph was determined to leave Leeds United and return to Spain last summer. He went on a strike to secure a dry loan move to RCD Mallorca in August.
At the weekend, the striker came off the bench and scored a brace in five minutes to help Mallorca beat Sevilla.
Two days ago, Última Hora reported the 22-year-old’s decision to push for a Leeds exit has started to pay paid off. They also stated Mallorca are confident he’ll ‘eventually explode’, after scoring two goals and registering two assists from eight matches.
Joseph hopes to repay the club’s confidence. The Leeds owned player has been speaking to Mallorca’s official website on a few topics after starring against Sevilla.
The Spaniard remains hopeful victory over Sevilla can be “a turning point that will help” Mallorca.
“When things aren’t going so well, we know how hard it is to get back on track. So, now we can use this [the victory] to continue and, with the confidence and spirit we have, go all out,” he said.
Leeds United loanee says “adaptation and process” needed
When asked about his individual situation at the Spanish club, Joseph asked for patience to showcase his qualities.
“I’ve been feeling better for a few weeks. A change of league and team requires adaptation and a process, and I’m looking forward to this also being, as the coach said, the game we all use to gain more confidence,” Joseph explained.
Mallorca failed to win their first six league matches, and they now have two wins in their last three games. The Leeds United player believes the upturn in recent form is down to the work done behind the scenes.
When asked about his ‘day-to-day work’, he added: “Often, in football, we question a lot of things: what are we doing wrong, what are we doing right? I think we’ve had a few very good weeks of work, and I believe that when you work hard and give your all, you end up getting results. We saw that this week.”
