Exclusive: Everton learn the current state of play on Man United star Joshua Zirkzee’s next…

Everton’s recruitment team are hard at work behind the scenes already working on what they need in January to bolster David Moyes’ squad.

Angus Kinnear joined the club at the start of the summer and it was a baptism of fire for the former Leeds United chief.

Moyes was pleased with Everton’s transfer dealings, but it was a hectic summer which saw nine players signed and plenty depart.

Under The Friedkin Group, Everton have witnessed a big transition both on and off the pitch, but the 62-year-old manager will be keen for greater stability over the coming transfer windows.

Speaking ahead of deadline day, Moyes admitted not all of Everton’s needs could be ticked off in just one window.

“We always knew this was going to be a summer like that. We can’t fix everything in just one window,” he said back in August.

With January quickly approaching, Everton know exactly what they need to address their issues, and Everton News’ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared his latest understanding.

With Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to find any sort of form in front of goal, a January striker addition is on Kinnear’s radar.

Speaking to Everton News, Bailey has shared the latest on the ongoing search for a striker and interest in Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.

“Everton are in the market for another front-man, they know they need a bit more,” Bailey told Everton News.

“Barry is taking time to adapt but I can tell you they still believe in him but they want that little extra and the January window offers them that chance and they are looking at options.”

Barry – who has just turned 23 – has shown that a striker with Premier League experience may be the smartest move Everton could make in January.

“Zirkzee is on the radar, he is available in January and he would be a very good addition,” he added.

“The issue with him is that he wants football ahead of the World Cup finals, and so do United – they won’t let him out just to sit, he can stay at Old Trafford and do that.

“There is a lot of interest in him, especially back in Italy and it is very open as to where he might end up.”

Moyes is not pleased with Beto’s performances and time is clearly going to be needed to see the very best out of Barry.

However, in the meantime, the likes of Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye’s service is being somewhat wasted without a prolific striker in front of them.

Joshua Zirkzee needs to rediscover Serie A form

Unfortunately, Zirkzee has not found his shooting boots since making the move to Manchester United, with just seven goals in 53 appearances.

Those appearances have come in a Manchester United side that has been nothing short of a mess over recent years, though.

Jack Grealish is thriving at Everton having been granted a fresh start away from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

There may well be a view that Zirkzee could find some improved form if he was to make the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where he would play regular football.

Appearances 34

Assists 5

There would be an element of risk behind a possible move for Zirkzee, but Moyes has shown with Grealish that he can help players rediscover the form they’ve shown in the past.
