Brighton loanee told not to make ‘unforgivable mistake’ – Anger appears to be growing

Brighton player Evan Ferguson showed a lot of promise when he first arrived at AS Roma on loan, especially during preseason.

He impressed on his debut against Bologna and also assisted against Pisa. Since then his form has faded and it’s starting to cause irritation.

The Ireland international has lost his starting spot under Gian Piero Gasperini to Artem Dovbyk, and has begun the past three Serie A games on the bench.

Corriere dello Sport today have a sub-headline saying ‘Ferguflop’, showing the direction the Italian perception is travelling.

Gasperini is expecting him to offer something new and different, if the striker wants to become a regular upfront. The manager wants immediate answers.

The newspaper states after a poor loan at West Ham, this is Ferguson’s big chance of redeeming himself. Corriere dello Sport talk up how fortunate he is to be at Roma, and if he wastes this opportunity, the 20-year-old will have made an ‘unforgivable mistake’.

The Giallorossi have the option to buy Ferguson from Brighton. Unless things improve, it’s clear that won’t be happening.
