Celtics injury report: Jaylen Brown upgraded for Wednesday’s game vs. 76ers

BOSTON — The Celtics have upgraded Jaylen Brown to available for the team’s regular season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Brown went through his pregame routine before getting upgraded to active on the injury report and will play.

Brown was originally listed as questionable due to a left hamstring injury suffered in last week’s preseason finale against the Raptors. Brown downplayed the seriousness of the injury earlier this week after taking part in practices.

“I wasn’t too concerned,” Brown said Monday. “I think it was nothing. I was fine. Maybe a little tweak, but nothing crazy.”

The Celtics will have their full roster available outside of All-Star Jayson Tatum (Achilles) for the opener with Brown cleared by team trainers. Philadelphia will be without three players, including expected starters Paul George (knee) and Jared McCain (thumb) for the matchup. Joel Embiid will play Wednesday, though Sixers coach Nick Nurse said he’ll be on a minutes restriction.

Boston tips off the regular season with a brutal stretch beginning Wednesday with seven games in 11 days ahead, including a daunting five games in seven nights stretch next week. Brown’s minutes load will be worth monitoring within the heavy early volume within Boston’s schedule, plus coming off tweaking his hamstring.

The Celtics and 76ers will tip off at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at TD Garden.
