Newcastle United represented in WhoScored?'s Champions League Team of the Round

**Newcastle United put together a very impressive display to take down Benfica on Tuesday night at St James' Park, securing a 3-0 win in the Champions League.**

There wasn't a player who put a foot wrong for the most part of Newcastle's comprehensive win, but there were certainly levels.

Anthony Gordon absolutely ran the show for Newcastle, and of course, Harvey Barnes came off the bench to score two goals.

However, neither of those players made it into [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/)?'s data-driven Team of the Round.

Surprise Newcastle United inclusion

Kieran Trippier was Newcastle's representative in WhoScored?'s Team of the Round

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the graphic above states, only the top-rated player for each position makes it into the team, and Bradley Barcola's rating of 9/10 beats Anthony Gordon's 8.6.

However, Kieran Trippier made it into the select XI for WhoScored with a 7.9, which suggests it wasn't a great gameweek for right-backs.

It's not that Tirppier was poor by any means, but a rating of 7.9 got him into the Team of the Round when Gordon's 8.6 didn't.

Marcus Rashford made it into the team ahead of Anthony Gordon as competition for England places heats up

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anthony Gordon's biggest competition for a place in Thomas Tuchel's England team, Marcus Rashford did pick up a spot in the team, but he was classed as a striker, although, like Barcola, he also received a 9 rating and therefore still would have kept Gordon out of the side.

Fermin Lopez, who was linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer, picked up a 10/10 rating for his part in Barcelona's 6-1 demolition of Olympiacos.

To have any Newcastle players in the Champions League Team of the Round shows just how well Newcastle are doing. Long may it continue.
