Xabi Alonso makes 'one of the world's most complete' claim as returning Real Madrid star shines

Real Madrid made it three UEFA Champions League wins from three games played as Jude Bellingham's first-half goal edged out a 1-0 home victory over Juventus.

Xabi Alonso's side head into their weekend El Clasico showdown with Barcelona full of confidence with just one loss in all competitions so far this season.

The return of Bellingham has been crucial for Alonso in recent weeks with the England international now back to full fitness following summer surgery on a long-standing shoulder problem.

Alonso handed the 22-year-old successive starts for the first time this season - after completing 86 minutes in the 1-0 weekend win at Getafe - and he played the full match against Igor Tudor's visitors.

That is another key step forward for Bellingham, as he looks to recover his top level, after two superb seasons in Madrid.

Alonso was full of praise for the former Borussia Dortmund star at full-time and indicated he's back to his world-class best.

"Alongside the goal, he played a very complete game and I liked him a lot at Getafe. He has the quality to be close to the box and be involved in creating chances," as per Marca.

"He's one of the most complete players in the world and we have to enjoy him. I want him to feel important and the way he reads the game shows how we need him."

The next call for Alonso will be over starting Bellingham against Barcelona as his No.5 aims to extend his run of three goals scored against the Catalans.

Thomas Tuchel opted against calling Bellingham up for England duty in both September and Octobers camps as the Three Lions cruised over the line to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

Despite nothing being on the line for November's double-header against Serbia and Albania, Tuchel could bring him back into the fold, as competition for midfield places hots up.
