Sean Dyche admits his first game as Nottingham Forest Head Coach will present plenty of challenges for the team, but he stressed how quickly things can change in football with winning games.
FC Porto are the visitors to the City Ground this evening in what is the Reds’ second home Europa League fixture of the campaign.
The Portuguese side arrive on Trentside unbeaten in all competitions and sit top of the Primeira Liga, keeping seven clean sheets from their eight league outings so far.
But Dyche insists he and his staff are aware of Dragões’ threats and highlighted the importance of putting in a performance to bring everyone together at the City Ground.
“It’s not an easy one. We’ve done quite a bit of analysis on them, and they’ve had a great start in their league and in this competition, and they’re a good outfit.
“We have respect for them, of course, but we’re looking for the energy. I spoke to the players about the edge and belief they showed last year. I remember watching the team go around the country and take everyone on, which is great when everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“It’s not easy, but things can change very quickly in football, and winning is always the thing that makes everyone feel better — not just me, but the players, the city, the feeling of the fans, all of it moulded together with winning.
“We’ve got to get back to that feeling, and we’ve got to do it fast, and the best way to do that is to win games.
“It’s going to be an interesting one, but me and the staff are really looking forward to it. It’s great to be here, and it means a lot to be wearing this badge — to me and the staff. Hopefully, we can do well and get ourselves off and running, and ideally that will be with a win.”
