The Cleveland Browns head into Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season owning the sixth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, along with the 20th selection courtesy of the Jacksonville Jaguars. This seven-round mock draft aims to fill crucial needs for this team while landing the potential quarterback of the future.
We'll be using NFL Mock Draft Database's simulator for this mock, and the rule is that for each selection, a player must be ranked at or below five spots higher than the pick slot on the big board, so for the 20th overall pick, player #15 would be fair game, but player #14 would be off-limits. This is to create some level of intrigue and variety with each selection, but to also add some degree of reality.
The strategy for this mock is to find a quarterback with franchise potential and to begin building up the offense around him, while reinforcing key areas on defense if the value is there.
Round 1, Pick 6 - Ty Simpson, QB Alabama
This pick is admittedly a bit concerning, but there are plenty of reasons to like Simpsons, and the concerns with his profile primarily stem from experience, not performance or lack of ability. He's a true Heisman Trophy candidate for a reason, and despite this being his first season as a starter, he is showing mental processing ability far beyond his years. He has the mobility, arm strength, and ball placement to be a franchise QB, but he's started only seven games in his career. He's thrown only one interception all season, but did have two plays against Tennessee last week where he tried to complete a screen over a defender, only to have it tipped and almost intercepted. He also tried to force the ball back to his target near the line of scrimmage as he was rolling right, and was fortunate it wasn't picked off as there were two defenders close by.
