Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Flacco gets real on aging

Veteran NFL quarterback Joe Flacco spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, and he will forever be a part of Ravens folklore for his key role in the organization’s Super Bowl XLVII triumph.

A few weeks ago however, Flacco was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals which means he has now been a member of five different teams since 2019, including two stints with the Cleveland Browns, as per ESPN.

The Super Bowl XLVII MVP will even go up against one of his former teams up next when Cincinnati takes on the New York Jets in their Week 8 clash on Sunday.

Considering all the different stops Flacco has had, and all the moving around and time spent away from family he’s experienced in recent years, it can be easy to wonder if the life of a journeyman quarterback can at times be a lonely one.

For Flacco however, he has also learned through time that there are certain joys and positives that come with spending time by yourself.

“(I can) Go sit at a restaurant by myself and realize that man, that’s pretty enjoyable to do,” he said during a press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jets.

“I tell people all the time, I used to see guys sitting at a bar by themselves, or just sitting by themselves eating and grabbing a little meal. And I’m like, man I feel so bad for that guy. You almost want to go join him. And now I realize like, that dude was in heaven.”

It seems more than ever that Flacco has found true inner peace in his life through time spent on his own.

Nevertheless, no one player can win NFL games all by himself. Ultimately, a whole team effort will sure be required for the Bengals to come back from their 2-4 start and continue making a concerted push for the playoffs.
