Arne Slot's buyer's remorse is growing as Alexander Isak picks up another injury

**Newcastle United fans continue to revel in the misery of Alexander Isak following his £125 million move to Liverpool.**

Had the deal been done the right way, there wouldn't be anywhere near as much enjoyment from seeing a professional footballer fail spectacularly at his new club. There'd still be a bit, obviously, that's the tribal nature of football, but we probably still wouldn't be writing about it with such glee two months on.

Alexander Isak took the decision to down tools while at Newcastle over the summer, and as a result, despite getting his wish and having his move to Liverpool go through, he was woefully unprepared for the season ahead.

We expected it would take him a couple of weeks to get his fitness up and get up to speed, but if anything, he just seems to be getting worse.

Is Arne Slot suffering from buyer's remorse?

--------------------------------------------

Last night, Liverpool scored five goals in the Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt, with five different goal scorers, and Isak was not amongst them. The Swedish striker was hooked at halftime after complaining about an issue with his groin. This comes after another blank at the weekend after Arne Slot told reporters that he's fully fit and the time to start judging him is now.

Slot will certainly be regretting that declaration. Speaking after Liverpool's win last night, Slot seemed to be frustrated by Isak's fitness issues as he told the media (via [The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/arne-slot-changes-tune-after-32732277)) it's a delicate balance.

> "Let's hope it's not that bad, but he had to go off because he felt his groin."Many people wanted me to play him more and we had to find the balance and unfortunately today that balance didn't work out for us perfectly. But let's hope for the best."Today with Alex and Hugo, I brought two players on the pitch who are usually able to score goals."Alex was a few times close but had to go off at half-time, and that's the difficult balance we are having with him."When he came to the club, he had hardly trained. So you bring him step by step forward, and then you feel there must be a moment where he can play twice a week, and the first time we try – he did it with Sweden as well – he has to go off."Normally you try to prepare players for once a week football, but if you are Liverpool you play every three days or normally three times in eight days but we've been unfortunate this season we have to play three times in seven days."We've tried to prepare him for that, we were really careful, and he was perfectly fit when he came back from the national team (last week) before the United game.

> "We thought he was well prepared for that but the margins at the top are small. I'm hoping it won't be that bad, because if he's out for a few weeks it will put him back. So let's wait."

Liverpool fans are losing patience with Alexander Isak

------------------------------------------------------

Even Liverpool fans are fed up with one fan posting in the comments on YouTube of Liverpool's highlights last night that they should have just stuck with Hugo Ekitike and not got greedy and signed Isak too.

We are glad they did get greedy, because after Isak's behaviour over the summer, there was no way back for him at Newcastle, so if that transfer hadn't gone through, we'd have had a big problem on our hands.

Now that problem is Liverpool's, so thanks for that. Hello, you Liverpool fans, here to comment on this story to say we're obsessed. Thanks for stopping by.
