Giants, Steelers, Bills get positive news from ESPN's wide receiver trade rumor

Three teams that should have their eyes on the wide receiver trade market ahead of the deadline are the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants and Buffalo Bills.

The Steelers are in search of an adequate No. 2 behind DK Metcalf, the Giants need a replacement for Malik Nabers (torn ACL) to help Jaxson Dart and the Bills are lacking a true No. 1 option for Josh Allen with Keon Coleman failing to step up.

In what is good news for all three teams, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that there is a sense that there won't be a ton of competition out there for wide receiver help ahead of the trade deadline, which will help keep the prices down for those wideouts who are available.

"Here are a few things to keep in mind on that front. One, competitors for receiver help might prove scarce," Fowler explained. "Teams often window-shop but ultimately stand pat."

Fowler didn't mention the Bills, but he did say the Steelers are "surveying the wide receiver trade market."

As for the Giants, Fowler thinks they could get involved for a wide receiver, but also notes that "multiple teams I've spoken to believe the Giants would prefer to keep their draft picks as a team still in transition," so there's that, too.

When it comes to the Giants and Bills, we could see smaller moves made at wide receiver for both.

The Bills don't exactly have the cap space to fit a significant contract in, so that will limit their ability to make a splash move, even if they want to make one.

As Fowler notes, the Giants are likely to want to hang on to their most valuable picks, and owner John Mara may be even less keen on giving up any with head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen uncertain to be back next season.

We could see Big Blue make a splash if they can acquire a player that can help them out beyond 2025, like Chris Olave or Jaylen Waddle, for example.

Pittsburgh is the team most likely to make a splash given their 4-2 record and the fact that they appear to be at least somewhat all-in with Aaron Rodgers, but we expected the Steelers to do something big last year, only for them to acquire a bottom-tier wideout in Mike Williams, who didn't make an impact.
