Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a chance to shot rarefied air with a win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Rodgers, with a win over the Packers, could say he has beat all 32 teams in his career, which would give him a mark only done by five other players. That group includes Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Brett Favre. It would not have been possible unless Rodgers left Green Bay, which he did after 18 years when the Packers traded him to the New York Jets.
Three years after the trade, Rodgers signed with the Steelers, and has notably gained appreciation for his time in Green Bay over the last few seasons.
“I don’t have any animosity towards the organization,“ Rodgers said. ”Obviously I wish that things would’ve been better during our last year there, but I have a great relationship with a lot of people still in that organization. This is not a revenge game for me, I’m just excited to see some of those guys and be on Sunday Night Football again.”
Rodgers has 14 touchdowns to five interceptions with the Steelers, a sign that his career resurgence might be happening with the team. Still, his time in Green Bay is one that he looks back at extremely fondly.
“We’re always working on ourselves and trying to be better than we were the previous day, previous month, previous year. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, maybe,” Aaron Rodgers said. “You know, I have a lot of great memories from my time there, a lot of great interactions with fans over the years, you know. … I grew up there, I spent 18 years there, from 21 to 39. So I’m thankful for my time there.”
With a win, Rodgers can help the Steelers keep a stranglehold on the AFC North while also setting this rare mark. Pittsburgh probably needs the win after a tough loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football, too.
