How Chargers' Cameron Dicker went from 3 cuts to most accurate kicker in NFL history

Three different NFL teams decided they didn't want Cameron Dicker.

He's now the most accurate kicker in NFL history.

The Los Angeles Chargers certainly won't be complaining anytime soon that Dicker fell into their lap. They definitely won't be letting him go anytime soon.

It's just one of those sports stories that fills you with belief that persistence matters. Dicker didn't give up on his dreams, and now he's atop his profession.

Which NFL teams cut Cameron Dicker?

Cameron Dicker was cut by three NFL teams during the 2022 summer and season: the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles.

Coming out of the University of Texas, Dicker was a well-regarded kicker with a fun nomenclature: "The Dicker Kicker."

But there are only so many NFL kicker jobs to go around, and he couldn't seize one right away.

That initial year, he was brought in by teams more to get a look at him in case they needed him rather than actually giving him a shot.

The Chargers, in that same 2022 season, brought Dicker aboard. Dustin Hopkins was hurt, so they needed a new placekicker.

Dicker took the job and didn't give it up.

Most accurate kickers in NFL history

Dicker already entered this season with a better percentage than anyone on this list. But to officially qualify for this NFL all-time leaderboard, a kicker needs to have attempted at least 100 field goals. Once Dicker reached that threshold early this season, he claimed his title.

Here are the 10-most accurate kickers in NFL history, ranked by field goal percentage, through Week 7 of the 2025 season:

Cameron Dicker - 94.64%

Brandon Aubrey - 91.00%

Eddy Pineiro - 89.51%

Justin Tucker - 89.10%

Harrison Butker - 88.12%

Chris Boswell - 87.85%

Josh Lambo - 87.08%

Daniel Carlson - 86.99%

Ka'imi Fairbairn - 86.82%

Mike Vanderjagt - 86.47%

The Cowboys' Aubrey just entered the list this week by reaching 100 career field goal attempts. And Pineiro just moved ahead of Tucker with a spotless Week 7 for the 49ers.
