As well as Estevao Willian, Chelsea youngster breaks UEFA Youth League record for young Blues

Chelsea’s Champions League win over Ajax was full of records as far as the Blues are concerned, however their youngsters were involved in club history just hours before.

Estevao Willian became Chelsea’s youngest Champions League goalscorer when he found the net in a 5-1 win that allowed Enzo Maresca to look to his youth late on.

The manager brought on Reggie Walsh, who at 17 years and two days became the youngest to make an appearance in the competition for the Blues.

As Chelsea set a number of records in the Champions League, their Under 19s produced a similarly-dominant 6-3 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Youth League just hours before the game at Stamford Bridge.

Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli becomes Chelsea’s youngest ever goalscorer in UEFA Youth League

Jesse Derry found the net again after his move from Crystal Palace, however the big story as far as the club are concerned was the presence of 15-year-old Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli.

Despite playing four years above his age, the midfielder was on hand to score for the Blues, in turn becoming the youngest player to score for Chelsea in the competition.

He took the crown off Frankie Runham, who remains with the club at 18 years of age.

Genesis Antwi was another player who found the net for the young Blues, with him being someone who has already made an impact in front of Enzo Maresca.

Maresca has not been afraid to hand opportunities to youngsters coming through Cobham at the first team level. As well as Walsh, a number of other academy stars have been given their chance.

While the midfielder has not yet featured for the first team, he has clearly been noticed by the manager for his performances for the young Blues.

Nicoll-Jazuli was involved in first team training ahead of their clash with Ajax, however it was deemed better for him to feature for the Under 19s this week.

If the youngster features for the first team at any point before May then he will become Chelsea’s youngest ever Premier League player.
