“Evaluating the Future Of Key Veterans”: Baltimore Ravens Could Potentially Trade TE Mark…

The Baltimore Ravens are off to a 1-5 start this season. Despite the 1-5 start, some people believe that the Ravens could potentially have an outside shot at winning the AFC North, but it depends on what they do this weekend against the Chicago Bears.

If Baltimore were to lose that game and drop to 1-6, then the Ravens could potentially make some trades and be sellers. One player that could potentially be on the move is tight end Mark Andrews. Some Baltimore fans believe that he should have been traded after they lost in the playoffs last season to the Buffalo Bills.

NFL Insider Believes That the Baltimore Ravens Could Trade Mark Andrews to a Contender

Andrews is 30 years old, and he will be a free agent after this season. There is a chance that Baltimore may not be able to re-sign him, and they may want to get draft capital for him instead of losing him for nothing. Jeremy Fowler of espn.com said about the possibility of the Ravens trading him away to a contender,

“The three-time Pro Bowler is a tried-and-true Raven, and Baltimore is still holding out faith that it can make a playoff run despite the 1-5 start. But shipping pass rusher Odafe Oweh to the Chargers surprised many around the league, and the franchise seems open to at least evaluating the future of key veterans. Andrews is making $11 million in the final year of his deal, and tight end Isaiah Likely is also set to hit free agency, probably forcing the Ravens to make some sort of action at the position eventually.”

Andrews this season has caught 21 passes for 174 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with averaging 8.3 yards per reception. He has been targeted 27 times. The Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Buffalo Bills are some potential teams who could potentially trade for him. The Los Angeles Chargers are another team to potentially watch out for.

If they were to trade him, he could be one of several Ravens players on the move. This would also mean that Andrews won’t be the long-term tight end, and Isaiah Likely would take over the number one tight end spot.
