Justin Jefferson is on the verge of an NFL record.
The Minnesota Vikings' superstar wide receiver needs just 40 yards on Thursday Night Football to officially set it in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Jefferson can become the fastest player in NFL history to reach 8,000 receiving yards, according to Pro Football Talk.
He enters Thursday's game with 7,960 receiving yards in his career.
This is Jefferson's 84th career game.
The previous fastest to get there was Julio Jones, who did it in 85 games.
Jefferson has been a star since the moment he first came to the NFL from LSU, and this would be just one more example of his greatness.

The Vikings haven't been a perfect offense this season. They've had to figure out quarterback woes for J.J. McCarthy and then Carson Wentz. The QB situation has been so bumpy that the Vikings are cited as a popular team to be involved in a quarterback trade before the deadline.
It hasn't affected Jefferson a ton, though. Through six games, he has 34 catches for 528 yards. He does only have one touchdown.
The Chargers should present an intriguing test for Minnesota on Thursday night. Both teams have a lot of talent but don't have the perfect results to show for it.
It'll certainly be a lopsided QB matchup when you consider that the Chargers have Justin Herbert at the peak of his powers.
But the Vikings have Jefferson, and that's a big deal. He can do a lot on his own to help Minnesota have a great chance of winning the game (while setting a record for himself in the process).
