Leeds United chiefs will hold a full shareholders meeting on Friday ahead of the Premier League clash against struggling West Ham United.

The meeting, which will see representatives of club owners San Fransisco 49ers travel from the United States, will take place at Elland Road to discuss the club's financial situation. Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe will be there.

However, the club's celebrity investors Will Ferrell, Russell Crowe and Michael Phelps won't be in attendance.

Nevertheless, it will be the first time the club's major shareholders and investors have been together since last season. Those invited will be given a tour of the stadium and the Thorp Arch training facilities, before watching the game.

Subjects on the agenda are likely to include the progress of the team under Daniel Farke now they're back in the Premier League, what budget Farke will be given to spend on squad strengthening in the January transfer window and the proposed funding of ambitious plans to renovate Elland Road.

Leeds announced plans in July to expand the capacity to 53,000 an increase of more than 15,000 - making it the seventh biggest ground in English football. Plans include updates to the West and North Stands, as well as improvements to the general admission and hospitality facilities. If approved, work is planned to start in 2026

The proposal to increase the stadium's capacity by more than 15,000 would make it the seventh biggest ground in English football.

However, the club are currently seeking assurances from Leeds City Council (LCC) about their proposals amid fears of a delay due to transport planning issues. As per council documents, there are concerns that significant setbacks in approval could delay the start of works beyond "another full football season", and thus past the initial forecast start date outlined for May 2026.

The council’s planning committee is due to convene a meeting next week, on October 30, to discuss the application - although this particular City Plans Panel meeting will not determine whether to approve or refuse the application.

It will instead assess a report submitted by LCC’s Principal Planner, Matthew Walker, to review various matters, including transport. Concerns have been raised about the submitted Travel Plan, with a revised framework requested.

Leeds United are seeking certainty around the expansion proposals for forward-planning purposes. There are fears that the commencement of works could be delayed beyond 'another full football season' and the initial forecast start date.
