Barcelona hat-trick hero Fermin Lopez wins Champions League Player of the Week

Lopez walked off with the match ball and the MVP award after Barcelona’s 6-1 win. He made history as he became the first Spanish player to score three times in one match for the Catalans in the history of the Champions League.

The Barcelona star has now received further recognition for his brilliant performance:

Lopez also spoke after the game and admitted he was in dreamland at scoring his first senior hat-trick for Barcelona.

“Very happy. We needed a win like that. We finished on a good note, and now we’re looking ahead to the Clásico. My first hat trick, a dream come true, now I can keep working,” he said afterwards.

“Now I’ll take the ball so my teammates can sign it. I’m very grateful to the entire team and for keeping up that momentum. I feel comfortable in that attacking midfield position. I can improve my game. But I’ll be wherever the manager needs me.”

Fermin is expected to continue in the starting XI for El Clasico, and another hat-trick on Sunday would do nicely!
