Fermin Lopez has made his future plans very clear after recent interest from Chelsea

Chelsea made a strong effort during the summer transfer window to sign Fermin Lopez from Barcelona, and the player has now made his future intentions very clear.

The Blues seemed to turn their attention to Lopez from Xavi Simons despite long-standing interest in the Dutchman, who would eventually go on to join Tottenham.

Chelsea made a £35m bid for Lopez, however this fell way short of Barcelona’s valuation of the player, despite the fact he was not part of their strongest starting XI.

Fermin Lopez commits future to Barcelona despite Chelsea interest

Eventually, he remained at the Nou Camp, although is still struggling for minutes in the Premier League due to the strength of their attacking options.

Despite this, Lopez seems completely committed to turning out a success for Barcelona, and when asked on The Residency app what his plans for the future were, he made it clear that it would be at his current club.

He said: “Win every possible title with Barca and with Spain.”

Despite reports that Chelsea were offering Lopez a key role at the club, it seems his mind is completely made up to stay with Barcelona.

The Spaniard showed Chelsea fans what they were missing when he scored a hat-trick in Barcelona’s most recent Champions League win, however if they are looking for another new attacker they may be having to turn their attention elsewhere.

Possible alternative Chelsea transfer targets

The Blues already invested serious money in attacking options throughout the summer. Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho and Estevao Willian all joined the club for big money.

However, if the club are looking to make more investments, they should look to Juventus and the brilliant performances recently of Kenan Yildiz.

Chelsea have shown interest in Yildiz throughout most of 2025, however would need to convince him that a move to the Premier League is in his best intentions.

At this stage, it is believed the player is keen to stay at Juventus, however the project the Blues can offer at Stamford Bridge should attract most top youngsters in world football.
