Brentford vs Liverpool Prediction: Can Reds Revive Premier League Form After Five-Star Frankfurt Win?

Can Arne Slot’s side build on their midweek rout of Eintracht Frankfurt when they return to Premier League action? We look ahead to Saturday’s late kick-off at the Gtech Community Stadium with our Brentford vs Liverpool prediction and preview.

Brentford vs Liverpool: The Key Stats

The Opta supercomputer is backing Liverpool to breathe life back into their Premier League title defence on Saturday, assigning them a 54% chance of victory at Brentford.

Liverpool have lost their last three Premier League games, as many defeats as in their previous 39 games. They could become the first team in the competition’s history to lose four straight games via goals conceded in the final 10 minutes.

Only Erling Haaland (11) and Antoine Semenyo (6) have scored more Premier League goals than Brentford’s Igor Thiago (5) this season.

Liverpool needed a morale-boosting victory after four successive defeats across all competitions, and they got exactly that on Wednesday, thumping Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 in the UEFA Champions League.

Hugo Ekitiké, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai were all on target in Germany, with the Reds’ attack finding form after Arne Slot’s bold decision to drop Mohamed Salah.

They return to Premier League action against Brentford on Saturday, with three domestic defeats on the spin giving them ground to make up on title rivals Arsenal.

Before their recent slump, which has seen them beaten by Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester United via goals conceded in the 84th minute or later, the Reds had only lost three of their previous 39 Premier League games (W27 D9). They last lost four in a row in February 2021, while they last endured a four-match losing streak within the first nine games of a league season in 1993-94.

They could now become the first team in Premier League history to lose four successive matches via goals conceded in the final 10 minutes. They could also become the second team to lose four games in a row having equalised in each, after Palace did so in November 2016.

Liverpool’s comeback win in Germany came with Salah being limited to the role of a 74th-minute substitute, the Egyptian now without a goal in seven games in all competitions.

An injury to Alexander Isak, who started against Eintracht but was withdrawn for Federico Chiesa at half-time, could mean Salah is restored to the starting lineup at the Gtech Community Stadium, but he is struggling to replicate last season’s performances in almost every metric.

Salah is averaging fewer goals (0.25 to 0.77), expected goals (0.3 xG to 0.68), shots (1.89 to 3.46), shots on target (0.76 to 1.63), touches in the opposition’s box (6.18 to 10.5), assists (0.25 to 0.48) and chances created (2.02 to 2.37) per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season compared to 2024-25.

He has also gone seven consecutive Premier League matches without scoring a non-penalty goal for the very first time in his Liverpool career.

Isak’s injury and Salah’s poor form might mean Ekitiké is now the most nailed-on starter in Liverpool’s attack this week after he struck on the counter to get the Reds level against his former club on Wednesday.

Ekitiké’s six goals in all competitions this term is at least two more than any other Liverpool player, including scoring three times in 415 minutes of Premier League action.

Gakpo is the only other Liverpool player to score three goals in the league in 2025-26, though he should have had more than one in last week’s 2-1 home defeat to Man Utd, having missed a glaring late chance after also hitting the woodwork on three occasions. That made him just the second Liverpool player on record (since 2003-04) to hit the bar or post three or more times in a single Premier League match, after Darwin Núñez against Chelsea in January 2024 (four times).

Liverpool will face a difficult task against a Brentford team who have won two of their last three Premier League matches, more victories than they managed in their previous seven (W1 D2 L4).

After cruising to a 2-0 success at beleaguered West Ham on Monday, the Bees are targeting consecutive wins for the first time since April and May last season under Thomas Frank.

Brentford managed 15 shots in the first half of Monday’s game alone – their joint-most in the opening 45 minutes of any Premier League match, previously reaching that figure at home to Burnley in October 2023.

Igor Thiago led the way for shots (6), shots on target (3), shots from inside the box (6) and touches in the opposition’s box (10) in that game; only Erling Haaland (11) and Antoine Semenyo (six) have bettered his five Premier League goals this season.

Thiago has hit the target with exactly half of his shots in the Premier League in 2025-26 (9 of 18). Excluding blocks, he has a shooting accuracy of 69.3%, and no player who has managed at least as many shots as Thiago can boast a better ratio.

The Brazilian will be relishing the prospect of going up against a Liverpool team who have failed to adequately protect Van Dijk and Konaté for large spells of this season, and he will hope to get more service from Michael Kayode.

The Brentford right-back created seven chances against West Ham, the joint-most by a player in a Premier League match this season, alongside Sean Longstaff in Leeds United’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. Those seven account for 37% of the chances Kayode has created across 20 appearances in the competition overall (7/19).

As for team news, Aaron Hickey could be fit again for the hosts, but Edmond-Paris Maghoma and long-term absentee Antoni Milambo will not be available to Keith Andrews. Former Liverpool players Caoimhín Kelleher, Sepp van den Berg, Jordan Henderson and Fábio Carvalho could all feature against their former team, though.

Liverpool have a growing injury list, with Alisson and Giovanni Leoni joined in the treatment room by Jeremie Frimpong and Isak after both suffered injuries in Frankfurt. Ryan Gravenberch may be available again after missing out in midweek following an ankle injury sustained against Man Utd.

Brentford vs Liverpool Head-to-Head

Having lost just one of their first three Premier League meetings with Liverpool (W1 D1), Brentford have now lost each of their last five against the Reds.

Liverpool won both meetings between the teams last season by a 2-0 scoreline, with the most recent of those victories coming via a stoppage-time brace from Darwin Núñez in January.

Indeed, they have scored at least once in all eight of their Premier League games against Brentford, their second best 100% scoring rate against a single opponent, having netted in all 14 meetings with Queens Park Rangers.

But Liverpool have lost each of their last four Premier League away games against teams from London – they last lost on five consecutive league visits to the capital between March and November 1970.
