Mohamed Salah has sparked speculation after he removed all mentions of Liverpool from his X account following the Reds' 5-1 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt. The Egyptian ace was left on the bench by Arne Slot for the second consecutive Champions League match, having also been omitted from the Dutchman's starting line-up for last month's journey to Galatasaray.
Liverpool adopted a 4-4-2 formation without Salah, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike leading the attack together for the first time. Federico Chiesa was then brought on ahead of Salah when Isak had to be substituted due to a groin injury at half-time.
The Egyptian star was finally introduced in the 74th minute, replacing Ekitike, just moments after the Reds netted their fifth and final goal.
Despite only being on the pitch for a mere 16 minutes, he still managed more shots than any other player, with his three attempts on goal matching Ekitike's tally, reports the Liverpool Echo.
However, failing to find the back of the net, Salah faced backlash for choosing to take a shot himself rather than passing the ball to Florian Wirtz for an easy tap-in into an empty goal.
His position in Slot's team has come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks, with several top pundits questioning his role following a lacklustre start to the season.
The attacker has managed three goals and three assists across 12 outings, yet has occasionally found himself peripheral during matches whilst also squandering several significant opportunities in recent fixtures.
The pressure on Salah intensified following Liverpool's unprecedented run of four consecutive defeats - their first such streak since 2014.
After the Reds' most recent match, the 33-year-old made several alterations to his X account that supporters quickly spotted.

Salah deleted all Liverpool references from his bio, which had previously stated 'Footballer for Liverpool FC '. He also modified both his profile photograph and banner image on the social media site.
The striker's profile photo had formerly shown him clutching the Premier League trophy during Liverpool's 2025/26 home kit reveal earlier this summer, whilst his banner featured Salah lifting the silverware during the Reds' open-top bus celebration in May after their championship success.
However, he now displays no banner picture and has switched his profile image to a holiday snap with his two daughters. Slot acknowledged the challenging nature of his decision to drop Salah when speaking to TNT Sports before kick-off in Germany.
"The first answer is always yes, [it was a difficult decision to make]," he said. "But that is also to do with Mo and all the players I have. Every time I select a team, it's always difficult because I have so many good players. That's also the reason why I use these players.

"I liked the way we ended the game against United. Mainly the second half. Created a lot of chances.
"And Ryan is out, so that means we have to restructure our midfield a little bit as well - defensively and offensively. So all together with the way Frankfurt usually plays, we decided to start like this.
"But as always, I have players who start the game and I have players who can impact the game off the bench and that is [the case] today as well."

Whilst Salah was omitted from Liverpool's starting lineup against Frankfurt, he'll be angling for a return when they travel to Brentford on Saturday, with Slot anticipated to make at least two alterations following knocks to Isak and Jeremie Frimpong.
