West Ham Transfers – Hammers Linked With Loan Move For Barca Star

With so much happening in the world of West Ham over the past couple of weeks, it had pretty much slipped my mind that we broke a transfer record in the summer.

Mads Hermansen — remember him? Graham Potter’s first choice was signed for £15 million from Leicester City, ahead of John Victor.

The Danish stopper had something of a baptism of fire between the sticks for the Hammers, doing a passable impression of the calamitous Roberto. Poor old Mads was then thrown under the bus by a London Stadium insider who labelled him a waste of money, before the club went and re-signed the released Łukasz Fabiański.

Now, according to TBR Football, three senior goalkeepers might not be enough for West Ham, with the website linking us with yet another.

Do West Ham need another keeper?

TBR claim we’ve been offered the chance to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen on loan in the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old German certainly isn’t lacking in pedigree — but this is where it gets confusing. Ter Stegen suffered a lower back injury last week, confirming he’d be out for three months with a return date of, erm… January.

I’m not entirely sure West Ham need another goalkeeper — let alone an injured one. Perhaps a couple of central defenders and a midfielder who can actually run might make Hermansen, Areola, and Fabiański’s jobs a bit easier, without the need to hire another bloke to guard the onion bag
