There has been a lot said in the media about Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal and his lifestyle off the field, especially after his 18th birthday celebration earlier this year.
Throughout all of that, the teenage gem has received full support in public from his teammates and higher-ups at the club.
However, it appears the issue is starting to become a bit of a concern for Barça, with Deco recently meeting Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to discuss the player’s lifestyle and discipline, among other things.
A recent report from Catalunya Radio has shed more light on Barcelona’s grievances with Lamine, and how Deco asked Mendes to intervene just days before the all-important Real Madrid clash.
What’s causing the friction?
According to the report, the club officials met with Mendes to convey the need for greater commitment and discipline from Yamal – both in his behaviour and his day-to-day approach.
The club want him to understand that he cannot always act as he pleases, particularly when it comes to respecting team rules and internal conduct.

While the club does not wish to interfere in his private life, there are growing concerns about some of his habits, such as playing late-night five-a-side futsal matches with friends, even on the eve of training sessions.
On one occasion last season, shortly after the Champions League semi-final against Inter, Yamal reportedly rented an indoor football pitch at around 11 p.m. to play with friends and some fellow Barça players.
Some within the club are concerned by this fearing the risk of injury for the teenage sensation.
Deco, who shares a strong relationship with Mendes, personally requested the agent’s help in guiding the youngster, admitting that “some things are starting to get out of control.”
While the club acknowledges Yamal’s immense talent and strong personality, officials believe Flick’s strict approach is ultimately for his own good and an effort to instil discipline before small cracks become bigger problems.
