Amad Diallo linked up with Bryan Mbeumo and picked out the onrushing Manchester United summer signing, who produced a fine finish past Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Liverpool chased an equaliser for the majority of the Premier League match last Sunday before Cody Gakpo found the back of the net late in the second half.
However, Bruno Fernandes had an impact only six minutes later after the United captain produced a sublime assist for Harry Maguire’s match-winner at Anfield.

Bruno Fernandes lofted a first-time cross into the Liverpool box in the 84th minute and his pinpoint pass found its way directly into the path of Harry Maguire.

Maguire subsequently headed the ball past Liverpool’s Giorgi Mamardashvili from close range, with Manchester United sealing all three Premier League points.
United’s 2-1 result over Liverpool has now seen Alan Shearer include Fernandes in his Premier League Team of the Week after the player’s impactful performance.
“A real captain’s performance,” he told the Premier League’s official website.
“He never stopped working in the middle, and who else would you have expected to supply such an incredible ball for Maguire’s winner?”
Maguire’s winning header for United against Liverpool also earned him a place in Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week amid massive praise for his display.
“The big man came up with another big goal in a huge performance,” he added.
“An absolute giant in both boxes. Defended superbly to keep Liverpool’s attack at bay and then produced a towering header to seal a memorable win at Anfield.”

Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire are not alone in Alan Shearer’s massive praise for Man Utd after the Liverpool match
The Red Devils have now won back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time since United manager Ruben Amorim took charge of the Red Devils in 2024.
Amorim had faced heavy criticism at the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season after the Red Devils’ run of results, but the momentum is now in his favour.
Fernandes and Harry Maguire both made Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week, with the 40-year-old United boss also securing his place as the manager.
Speaking on his selection of Amorim as the team’s manager, Shearer said: “Masterminded an outstanding win at the home of the champions to complete back-to-back wins for the first time since he took charge at Man Utd.”
United have won four of their opening eight Premier League matches this season ahead of the Red Devils hosting Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
