In the past, England manager Thomas Tuchel has been very critical of one defender who is currently being linked with a move to Chelsea.
Chelsea are actually coping well in the absence of Levi Colwill, winning their last match against Ajax 5-1.
Josh Acheampong has really impressed in the Blues’ recent games, scoring in their previous Premier League outing.
Even so, it has been reported that the Club World Cup winners are interested in bringing in a new central defender.

Chelsea keen on Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano
Dayot Upamecano’s contract at Bayern Munich expires next summer, and it looks like Chelsea could try to take advantage of that.
According to Sport Bild, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are all interested in the centre-back.
Regarding the Blues, their squad building has been criticised over the last few years, with many feeling that they have not signed enough experienced players.
Upamecano is 26 now and has played for both Bayern and France. He would bring the average age of Chelsea’s squad up.
However, while the Blues’ roster may lack Upamecano’s profile, it does not necessarily mean that the Frenchman would be a good signing for them. If anything, he could easily end up being the opposite.

Thomas Tuchel critical of Dayot Upamecano’s concentration
Tuchel has been very critical of Upamecano while managing him, and it is something for Chelsea to bear in mind if they are seriously considering making a move for the player.
After one Champions League tie between Bayern and Manchester City in 2023, Tuchel slammed the France international for making too many mistakes and lacking concentration.
“He made too many mistakes,” Tuchel said in his post-match press conference via Mundo Deportivo. “Today he had two or three situations where he lacked a bit of concentration.”
It was just one match that Tuchel was referring to, but anyone who has watched Upamecano before will be well aware that lapses in concentration and rashness are part of his game.
Chelsea will view the former RB Leipzig man as a good market opportunity because of his contract situation at the Allianz Arena. However, they would be better off targeting someone else.
For example, it is thought that Chelsea also have Gleison Bremer on their radar, a calmer and cooler customer than Upamecano. He would be a safer bet than the Bayern defender.
