Jets' Jermaine Johnson reveals huge update amid trade rumors

There is a laundry list of players that the New York Jets could look to trade at this year's NFL trade deadline. Sitting at 0-7, and potentially 0-8 heading into their Week 9 bye, the Jets selling off some of their players is expected at this point.

But there is still a question of how far the Jets go. Do they only sell off their expiring contracts, or do they dip into their younger players who're around for longer to land a better haul? One name brought up frequently is pass rusher Jermaine Johnson.

However, according to a new report from Jets X-Factor beat reporter Nick Faria, Johnson himself revealed a huge update amid his trade rumors that puts to rest any speculation that the 26-year-old could be dealt this season.

Jets not expected to trade Jermaine Johnson

Earlier in the week, ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, Johnson posted a GIF on Twitter/X of Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street saying, "I'm not (expletive) leaving.

It was a reference to his ongoing trade rumors, and gave some hope to fans that Johnson wouldn't be traded. There was no guarantee that he was going to stay, however. That is, until now.

But Faria went a step further, asking Johnson for more insight into his post. And Johnson revealed that, "his tweet on Wednesday came from getting 'clarification' from the #Jets brass."

Johnson said, "I'm wanted here, and it's vice versa."

Amid the ongoing trade rumors, wth Johnson's name listed among the likely Jets trade candidates, this report from Faria reveals that not only does Johnson want to stay in New York, but the Jets brass also wants to hold onto the Pro Bowl pass rusher.

Despite being named in trade talks, Johnson is expected to stick with the Jets, as Johnson revealed he got "clarification" from the front office that he's staying with the Jets.

Johnson is now slated to stay in New York for the rest of the 2025 season, as the Jets front office clarified that they want to keep Johnson and aren't planning to move him despite his name popping up in trade rumors in recent weeks.
