It will see the capacity of the ground increased to 60,000 ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, two new bar areas will also be opened in the North Stand, the Cross Bar and City Hall.
Where will City's season ticket holders be moved to?
The second of those has caused the club to move existing season ticket holders from the area where it will be located.
City have announced that they will be relocated to new seats in the expanded North Stand.

Supporters will be given an option to take up seats in the new safe standing area in the stand.
A total of 3,000 rail seats have been added as part of the ground's expansion.
The decision to move supporters will make room for the new City Hall bar area, which is set to be open to 500 fans on matchdays.
Described as an 'enhanced bar experience' by the club, the hospitality area will also be open on non-matchdays.
As part of the fan relocation, supporters will be able to choose their new seat.
The club have also confirmed that their season ticket price will not change even if they move to a more expensive seat.

Fans will also be given the opportunity to move in groups even if they are not all directly affected.
Will more season tickets be released with the increased capacity?
However, despite increasing the stand's capacity, City have announced that no new season tickets will be made available.
Instead, they have pledge to release 4,000 'flexi season tickets' for next season, with half of those reserved for Junior Cityzen members.
City's 'flexi season tickets' allow fans to purchase tickets on a game-by-game basis.
They must purchase a ticket for and attend at least 10 Premier League matches per season, though.
The 'flexi season tickets' are only available to supporters who have purchased tickets for 35 or more home men's matches over the previous three seasons.

As well as 7,000 seats and a pair of new bars, the stadium expansion will also include several more additional features.
City will open a new museum, fan zone and hotel, all of which are slated to open at the end of next year.
New food and drink areas for supporters will also be added for matchdays.
The club moved into their stadium in 2003 after it was converted to host football matches following the Commonwealth Games the previous summer.
