Nottingham Forest were hit with an injury concern during their Europa League clash with Porto.

Full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko was forced off just before half-time of the clash at the City Ground. The Arsenal loanee had indicated he was struggling and then made way for Nicolo Savona in the 45th minute.

The Reds were already ahead by that point. Morgan Gibbs-White had put them in front from the penalty spot after Jan Bednarek was punished for a handball.

It was a case of straight in at the deep end for Dyche after being appointed on Tuesday. His first game in charge was a big Europa League game

Prior to kick-off, Forest had not won in any competition since the opening day of the season. Nuno Espirito Santo was still at the helm then as Brentford were toppled 3-1 in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou oversaw a miserable run of results as Nuno’s replacement, ending his 39-day tenure with a record of six defeats and two draws. Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea proved to be the nail in the coffin for the Greek-born Australian and he was given the boot straight after the final whistle.

Nottingham Forest continue their UEFA Europa League campaign as they host Porto on October 23. Fans can watch the game on the TNT Sports Prime Video channel.

It is now up to Dyche to spark Forest’s campaign into life. Before tonight’s game, the Reds had registered one point from their first two European games.

Dyche has made three changes to the starting XI from the weekend. Dan Ndoye, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Igor Jesus replaced Morato, Ibrahim Sangare and Taiwo Awoniyi in the line-up.

Neco Williams, Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo and Zinchenko made up the back line ahead of goalkeeper Matz Sels. Doye and Hudson-Odoi took up the wide positions either side of midfield duo Douglas Luiz and Elliot Anderson. Morgan Gibbs-White joined Jesus in attack.

Front man Chris Wood and winger Dilane Bakwa are absent due to injury. Youngsters Keehan Willows and Zyan Blake are therefore included among the substitutes, along with John Victor, Morato, Sangare, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Nicolas Dominguez, Ryan Yates, James McAtee, Willy Boly, Nicolo Savona and Zach Abbott.
