Buccaneers' Teddy Bridgewater has the weirdest injury reason for missing practice

There are plenty of ho-hum injury reasons that guys miss practice in the NFL.

That's not the case in Week 8 for Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater's official injury: "Teeth."

Bridgewater hasn't practiced on Wednesday or Thursday while listed with the teeth injury.

It makes the most sense that it's just some kind of procedure that isn't the best to engage in contact activities immediately after, but it's still a goofy one that you don't see everyday.

The Bucs would still surely like to get Bridgewater a more positive practice report on Friday just to be sure he can back up Baker Mayfield on Sunday.

The veteran Bridgewater signed with Tampa Bay late in the offseason to be the QB2 behind Mayfield, but he hasn't had to be called upon yet for game action.

If Bridgewater were to be inactive, the Bucs have one quarterback on their practice squad; Connor Bazelak.

Bazelak was a well-traveled college QB who finished his career at Bowling Green, where his favorite target was current Browns rookie TE Harold Fannin.

It definitely wouldn't be ideal for the Bucs to find themselves in a situation where they have to play Bazelak this week, so hopefully Bridgewater's teeth and mouth get themselves nice and shiny and healed up by Sunday.

Tampa Bay might be OK this week, because they play the lowly New Orleans Saints in the late afternoon window on Sunday. Then it's a bye for the Buccaneers before they play the Patriots in Week 10.
