The Miami Dolphins have a new injury concern with wide receiver Jaylen Waddle ahead of their Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Waddle popped up on the team's injury report on Thursday after turning in a full practice on Wednesday. Waddle is listed with not one but two hamstring issues.
The fact that Waddle was a mid-week addition and limited suggests he suffered the injury at practice, but that has not been confirmed.
Regardless, this is obviously a concern for his Week 8 status. We'll know more on Friday, when the Dolphins drop their final injury report.
It is also a major concern for an already down-and-out Dolphins team that is missing Tyreek Hill, who suffered a season-ending knee injury a few weeks back.
Waddle has been operating as the Dolphins' No. 1 wideout since then and has tallied 13 catches for 220 yards and one touchdown in that span, although he's coming off a rough outing in Week 7, when he posted just one catch for 15 scoreless yards.
That wasn't really his fault, though, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has looked like a shell of the player we've seen in recent years and the Dolphins' offense as a whole is dysfunctional, much like the rest of the team.
Trade rumors and speculation have swirled around Waddle in recent weeks, but several reports suggest the Dolphins, who could be headed for major changes following this dreadful season, don't intend on trading him.
And that makes sense. Waddle is signed through 2028 on a reasonable contract and is still just 26, so he's young enough to be in the team's long-term plans and could be a huge asset for a young quarterback if the Dolphins draft one in 2026.
Not to mention, trading Waddle would leave the cupboard extremely bare in Miami, so chances are the Dolphins will hang onto him.
