Christopher Meloni’s new Hulu series featuring the Browns to film in Cleveland next month

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Production has started on “The Land,” the upcoming Hulu series starring “Law & Order: Organized Crime” actor Christopher Meloni as head coach of the Cleveland Browns. His co-star, Mandy Moore, posted a photo of the pair from the set — styled to resemble the team’s locker room — on Thursday.

“First day of production for our new drama series created by the incredible Dan Fogelman!” she wrote in the caption. “See you soon on Hulu and don’t forget… football is family.”

Fogelman, who also created the Emmy-winning “This Is Us,” reunites with Moore for a new intergenerational family drama set inside the NFL. Previously known as “17 Sundays,” the series features Meloni as Danny Roarke, the Browns’ head coach. Moore portrays Lauren Durkin, the daughter and heir apparent of the team’s owner, Hank, played by William H. Macy. Chace Crawford (“Gossip Girl”) has been cast as the team’s general manager, according to Deadline.

The project brought Meloni to Browns training camp in Berea for a few days back in August. He watched practice, chatted with coaches, tossed the football around and snapped photos with players.

“I’m in the midst of a little bit of research just to kind of get the texture and environment and the relationships — just how the sausage gets made,” Meloni told the "Cleveland Browns Daily“ podcast at the time. “Part of it is taking information through a firehose... I appreciated every moment.”

The series is scheduled to film in Cleveland for one day on Nov. 15, cleveland.com has learned. The Greater Cleveland Film Commission has a job posting on its website seeking crew members for what it describes as “a TV pilot for Hulu/20th Century.” It’s not yet known if any of the principal cast will be in town for the shoot.
